A wave of planned anti-Trump protests across Minnesota was abruptly called off Saturday after a chilling wave of political violence left two Democrat lawmakers and their spouses gunned down in their own homes—one couple dead, the other fighting for their lives.
Organizers behind the “No Kings” demonstrations, which were set to attract thousands of progressive activists, pulled the plug on all Minnesota events following an overnight rampage that appears far more sinister than initially reported.
Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were found dead at their residence, while State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were severely injured in a similar attack. Both shootings are being described as targeted political violence—carried out by a suspect who had been rubbing shoulders with Democrat leadership just years ago.
