Rosie O’Donnell, once a loud, proud member of the Hollywood anti-Trump brigade, appears to be learning a hard truth about the real world: leaving the United States because of a presidential election isn’t as simple as shouting it on social media. Now, she’s holed up in Ireland, facing the reality that moving overseas takes more than feelings and fame.
Over the weekend, The New York Times ran a story asking, “Where in the World Is Rosie O’Donnell?” – as if her whereabouts were some grand mystery. But in the very same breath, the paper admitted she’s in Dublin, Ireland, trying to obtain citizenship. So much for the suspense.

The article, meant to paint O’Donnell in a sympathetic light, ends up revealing something else entirely: she’s a celebrity struggling to adjust after making an emotional, politically charged decision to leave her home country. And now, the cracks are starting to show.
“I never thought he would win again,” she told The Times, referring to President Trump. She continued, “But I said, ‘If he does, I’m going to move,’ and my therapist said, ‘Well, let’s make a real plan.’”
