Nikki Haley Calls Trump With Presidential Announcement

With rumors that Nikki Haley may run for president of the United States in 2024, her selection would be a turning point in this fiercely fought fight. The former governor of South Carolina had a successful stint and, with ambitions for higher office looming, she may provide a fresh perspective in this crucial race.

“Cementing what has been in the works for months … Haley will formally announce she is running for president and will seek the Republican nomination for her party’s 2024 ticket, ” the Post & Courier in Charleston reported.

Haley made it plain last year that she wouldn’t be running against her former boss for the presidency. Prior to ceasing all public service, she had previously served in the Trump administration as the United States ambassador to the UN for a period of time and kept that position.

“I would not run if President Trump ran,” she told reporters at the time, “and I would talk to him about it.”

She now reportedly has Trump’s OK to run for president.

On a campaign tour on Saturday, Trump spoke with reporters while on board his jet. “She called me and said she’d like to consider it, and I said, ‘You should do it,’” according to CBS News.

“I talked to her for a little while,” Trump told reporters. “I said, ‘Look, you know, go by your heart if you want to run.’”

The Post & Courier claimed that invitations are being sent to Haley’s supporters to attend a “special announcement” on February 15 in Charleston.

During her interview with Fox News last month, Ambassador Haley gave a sneak peek at her future goals, hinting at the prospect of running for president.

“Well, when you’re looking at a run for president, you look at two things. You first look at, does the current situation push for new leadership? The second question is, am I that person that could be that new leader?” she said.

Haley came to the conclusion that the answer was affirmative after carefully weighing the present economic situation, including inflation, foreign policy concerns, as well as a weakening small business sector in contrast to a rising government role.

“Can I be that leader? Yes, I think I can be that leader,” Haley said.

“I think it’s time for new generational change,” Haley told Fox. “I don’t think you need to be 80 years old to go be a leader in D.C. … I think we need a young generation to come in, step up, and really start fixing things.”

Having previously said that she believed in success, she boldly reaffirmed her notion.

“I’ve never lost a race,” she told Fox. “I said that then; I still say that now. I’m not going to lose now.”
