The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an oversight initiative spearheaded by Elon Musk to expose wasteful spending, has pulled the plug on several controversial taxpayer-funded grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including a shocking $600,000 program dedicated to “pregnancy prevention” for transgender boys.
DOGE revealed its latest round of spending cut recommendations in an X post on Tuesday, exposing a slew of eyebrow-raising research projects that were raking in taxpayer dollars. Among them:
- A $699,000 study on “cannabis use” among “sexual minority gender diverse individuals.”
- A $740,000 project examining “social networks” among “Black and Latino sexual minority men in New Jersey.”
- A $50,000 initiative assessing “sexual health” in “LGBTQ+ Latinx youth in an agricultural community.”
- A $75,000 grant researching so-called “structural racism.”
