Nicki Minaj Just Made a HUGE Trump Move

The superstar rapper has signed on as a celebrity judge for a competition that will put five American businesses in front of a national audience as they battle for a piece of $1 million in private investment capital.

For the finalists, the stakes could hardly be higher.

The top business will reportedly walk away with $400,000.

Five American Companies Will Compete for $1 Million

The SBA says the five finalists were chosen from a massive field of 1,182 submissions.

Unlike many government programs, the competition’s $1 million prize pool is not being financed by taxpayers. The money is being provided by private-sector company Clover Network.

SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler said the event is designed to showcase entrepreneurs and companies capable of creating jobs and strengthening the American economy.

“BA is bringing the boardroom energy to Washington, D.C. and rolling out the red carpet for small biz — with an ALL-STAR lineup of celebrity judges for our Million Dollar Pitch Competition,” Small Business Administration head Kelly Loeffler said.

“Their participation brings invaluable real-world perspective as our five exceptional finalists compete for a share of $1 million in growth capital,” she continued. “I look forward to joining them next month as we recognize the innovators and job creators who power American strength.”

Cain will handle hosting duties, while Minaj will join a judging panel that also includes Airbnb co-founder and U.S. Chief Design Officer Joe Gebbia and private equity investor Grant Cardone.

The five finalists represent businesses from across the country.

Compotech, Inc., based in Brewer, Maine, operates in defense technology.

Winton Machine of Suwanee, Georgia, manufactures metalworking machinery.

Plas-Tech Tooling of Garner, Iowa, works in precision plastics manufacturing.

Wyoming-based Red River operates in the energy sector, while San Diego’s VetPowered LLC is a veteran-owned company.

These aren’t theoretical startups built around Washington buzzwords.

They are companies operating in industries that produce equipment, technology and jobs.

Nicki Minaj’s Political Transformation

Minaj’s participation is especially notable because of her increasingly public relationship with President Donald Trump and his political movement.

For years, conservatives have argued that entertainers who depart from liberal political orthodoxy face enormous pressure from the entertainment industry.

Minaj has increasingly demonstrated that she isn’t interested in following anyone else’s political script.

In November 2025, the rapper publicly thanked Trump over his attention to the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

One month later, she appeared at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest and said she had the “utmost respect” for Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

By January 2026, Minaj’s support had become even more explicit.

During an appearance at the White House, she described herself as Trump’s “number one fan” and indicated that attacks over her political position had only strengthened her support.

She later traveled in the presidential limousine to a Treasury Department event connected to Trump’s savings initiative for American children.

Minaj also attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner as a guest of Fox News.

Trump returned the praise during a Rose Garden appearance in July, describing Minaj as “so incredible” and praising her common sense.

Now she is taking part in one of the administration’s highest-profile small-business events.

Minaj celebrated the announcement on X.

“This is a major, MAJOR KEY,” she wrote, adding that participating in the Trump Administration’s small business initiative was something she was “sooooooooooo looking forward to.”

Trump Administration Puts Small Business in the Spotlight

The competition falls under Loeffler’s Freedom 250 initiative, which celebrates 250 years of American entrepreneurship and free enterprise.

The SBA has reported approving nearly 45,000 loans totaling more than $23 billion, representing an 11 percent increase from the previous year.

The administration has also pointed to strong business formation and job-creation figures as evidence that entrepreneurs remain central to the country’s economic expansion.

But the September 18 competition gives that economic message a distinctly different platform.

Instead of another government conference packed with speeches and bureaucrats, five companies will have the opportunity to pitch their businesses in front of prominent entrepreneurs, investors and celebrities.

One will leave with $400,000.

And taxpayers aren’t footing the prize bill.

There is also unmistakable symbolism in Minaj’s presence.

One of the most commercially successful female rappers in history is openly associating herself with a Trump administration initiative despite the political culture that has long dominated the entertainment business.

Dean Cain will be standing alongside her as host.

Meanwhile, five entrepreneurs who build products, employ Americans and take real financial risks will be at the center of the stage.

Washington normally makes celebrities out of politicians.

On September 18, the Trump administration is attempting something different: making celebrities out of American small-business owners.
