California Governor Gavin Newsom’s political ambitions took a significant hit as devastating wildfires scorched tens of thousands of acres in Southern California. With at least 24 lives lost, thousands displaced, and homes reduced to ashes, the catastrophe has drawn national attention—and sharp criticism.
Fox News host Sean Hannity unleashed a blistering critique of Newsom, blaming the governor’s policies for exacerbating the disaster. “This is madness. This is insane,” Hannity declared. He further described California as the ultimate cautionary tale of left-wing governance, stating, “California is the greatest example of how this woke, equity-obsessed, environmental, radical socialism, Green New Deal, statism, Marxism, socialism… This is how it plays out.”

Hannity highlighted California’s failure to build new reservoirs since 1979 and the controversial decision to prioritize saving a small fish species, the smelt, over water storage. These policies, Hannity argued, left fire hydrants dry in critical areas, hampering firefighters’ efforts to contain the blaze.
