A Democrat official in Oregon is facing serious legal trouble after being accused of exploiting an elderly man in a financial fraud scheme. Clackamas County Commissioner Melissa Fireside has been charged with eight counts of theft, including aggravated theft, identity theft, forgery, and computer crimes. She was arraigned on Wednesday in Clackamas County court.
According to the Oregon Department of Justice, the Democrat politician allegedly took financial advantage of an 83-year-old man while misusing a computer network. Additionally, she is accused of forging his signature, as well as the signature of Oregon Democratic State Representative April Dobson.

Following her court appearance, Fireside was released under the condition that she has no contact with the elderly victim. Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield emphasized the severity of the case, stating, “It does not matter who you are, which political party you’re in or what position you hold. We will aggressively prosecute those who victimize Oregon’s seniors.”
