New Book Claims Schiff Privately Wanted Biden Out

Her upcoming book, Unburdened, scheduled for release by HarperCollins in September 2026, promises to reveal private conversations, internal polling, and text messages that she says expose what party leaders knew behind the scenes.

According to Li, one of those messages came directly from California Senator Adam Schiff.

Former Democrat Fundraiser Says She Has the Evidence

Li was hardly an outsider looking in.

Trump Survivor Coin

For years, she raised millions of dollars for Democratic candidates and interacted with senior party officials, donors, and campaign strategists. That position, she argues, gave her a firsthand view of conversations that never reached the public.

Speaking with Fox News Digital, Li accused top Democrats of concealing Biden’s condition despite privately recognizing that something was wrong.

“Whatever was out there, it wasn’t the truth,” Li told Fox News Digital. “They wanted him to go, and also in my book, I will be telling people exactly who was aware of Biden’s cognitive decline but pretended otherwise.”

She says her upcoming book contains documentation supporting those claims.

Schiff Allegedly Expressed Doubts Before Going Public

Among the most notable revelations involves Senator Adam Schiff.

Li says Schiff privately contacted her before publicly calling for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race during the summer of 2024.

“I remember getting a text from Schiff,” Li said. “I have it in my book.”

According to Li, the message demonstrated that Schiff had already concluded Biden should step aside long before he publicly expressed those concerns.

She further stated that Schiff “very much wanted Biden to go” while continuing to issue carefully crafted public remarks that avoided directly challenging the president.

Schiff’s office responded by noting that his public request for Biden to step aside in July 2024 has long been part of the public record.

Li, however, argues that the issue is not when Schiff eventually spoke publicly, but whether leading Democrats privately reached conclusions that differed sharply from what they were telling Americans.

New Claims Add to Questions Raised by Earlier Reporting

Li’s allegations also echo findings from Original Sin, the book detailing interviews with more than 200 Democratic insiders regarding Biden’s final months as the party’s nominee.

That reporting described multiple Democratic senators observing what they viewed as a noticeable decline during private meetings with Biden in early 2024.

According to the book, senior administration officials also questioned Biden’s condition after internal meetings.

One official reportedly reflected after the election:

“Even though he did so many good things for this country, I can never forgive him.”

Despite those concerns, few Democratic leaders publicly acknowledged any problems before Biden ultimately exited the race.

Li believes political self-preservation explains much of that silence.

“They didn’t want to get ostracized by the party,” she said. “It’s like the axiom: you come at the king; you better not miss. Everyone would have missed.”

She argues many officials feared political consequences if they challenged the sitting president too early.

Internal Polling Allegedly Painted a Bleak Picture

Li also claims Democratic leaders possessed internal polling that has never been released publicly.

According to her, several prominent Democrats quietly explored challenging Biden but abandoned the idea after reviewing polling data.

“There are many candidates who polled themselves against Biden and then realized that they couldn’t beat him in a primary,” Li said. “It wasn’t a matter so much of anti-Trumpism. It was self-interest.”

Li says those surveys will be included in her upcoming book.

If accurate, the claims would suggest that potential challengers concluded Biden remained too politically powerful within the Democratic primary electorate despite growing concerns about his age and health.

Harris Was Reportedly Viewed as the Weakest Alternative

Li also disputes the narrative that Vice President Kamala Harris emerged as the strongest available successor once Biden withdrew.

Instead, she claims internal Democratic polling consistently ranked Harris behind other potential nominees.

“She was the weakest candidate in the field,” Li said flatly.

According to Li, Democratic polling compared Harris against figures including Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro, and Gretchen Whitmer.

She alleges Harris consistently finished last in those internal matchups despite ultimately becoming the party’s nominee.

Republican Investigations Continue

Republicans have continued examining what they describe as a coordinated effort to conceal Biden’s condition during his presidency.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has characterized the situation as one of the largest political cover-ups in modern American history, while House Republicans continue investigating what party leaders knew and when they knew it.

The National Republican Congressional Committee has likewise argued that Democratic officials misled the public regarding Biden’s fitness for office.

Li’s forthcoming book may add additional material to those ongoing debates if the documents and communications she describes become public.

Whether her claims reshape public understanding of the 2024 election remains to be seen, but Unburdened is already drawing attention because of its promise to reveal internal communications from individuals who occupied influential positions inside the Democratic Party during one of the most consequential election cycles in recent history.
