Donald Trump on Sunday abruptly ended a televised sit-down with NBC’s Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker after what the former president described as repeated interruptions and what he viewed as overtly biased questioning. The exchange, which unfolded during Trump’s campaign swing through Wisconsin, quickly shifted from policy discussion to a tense on-air confrontation that ultimately cut the interview short.
The interview initially covered a wide range of national and international issues, including the ongoing Iran conflict, rising costs of living across the United States, and Trump’s proposed initiative he referred to as a “weaponization fund.” According to Trump, the idea is aimed at providing financial compensation to individuals he says were unfairly targeted during what he characterizes as politically motivated prosecutions under the Biden administration.
As the discussion progressed, however, the tone between the two participants became increasingly strained. Trump argued that individuals he described as being “hurt so badly by radical left lunatics” should be compensated for what he views as unprecedented legal and political pressure. He contrasted those cases with what he called inconsistent enforcement against left-wing rioters who he claimed often avoid similar consequences when targeting federal authorities.
