Nancy Pelosi, a towering figure in Democratic Party politics for more than two decades, is now facing an unprecedented storm of criticism from within her own ranks. Once regarded as the unshakable leader of the House Democrats, Pelosi’s recent comments have sparked outrage and calls for her to step back. As tensions flare in the aftermath of a devastating political defeat, Pelosi’s grip on her party appears to be slipping.
The former Speaker of the House raised eyebrows after making candid comments in a New York Times interview about the Democratic Party’s struggles in the 2024 election. Pelosi placed much of the blame squarely on President Joe Biden, saying his decision to stay in the race for so long hurt the party’s chances.

“Had the president gotten out sooner, there may have been other candidates in the race,” Pelosi remarked. She didn’t stop there, going on to suggest that Vice President Kamala Harris, who inherited Biden’s campaign after his exit, was a less-than-ideal candidate for the nomination. Pelosi added, “The anticipation was that, if the president were to step aside, that there would be an open primary.”
