According to an exclusive Washington Post report citing former White House strategist Steve Bannon, the blow-up happened during a tense April meeting at the White House. Both Musk and Bessent were pitching competing proposals for overhauling the Internal Revenue Service. That meeting ended not in compromise, but in chaos.
