While President Biden flings open the southern border to tens of millions of unvetted migrants from across the globe, the left is seething over a far smaller, and more specific, humanitarian gesture by President Donald Trump—offering sanctuary to a group of white South Africans reportedly facing rising racial hostility in their home country.
On Monday, the Trump administration approved refugee status for 59 white South Africans, citing rising violence and government-sanctioned discrimination against the Afrikaner population, descendants of European settlers who have been increasingly targeted in South Africa’s shifting political climate.
Predictably, Democrats and their media allies wasted no time in turning this into a racial controversy—accusing Trump of favoring white refugees, while conveniently ignoring the actual threats these families face.
“It’s a Genocide That’s Taking Place”
Trump defended the move in direct terms. Asked about the executive order he signed in February, he responded bluntly: “It’s a genocide that’s taking place.”
