Recently, a plan to distribute more than two-thirds of the state’s delegates for the 2024 presidential primary through caucus meetings received approval from the Michigan Republican Party. According to the updated schedule, caucuses will be held in all 13 Congressional districts of Michigan on March 2. The winning candidate will get three delegates from each district, for a total of 39 delegates to the Republican Convention in 2024. Additionally, the remaining 16 delegates will be distributed in accordance with the new strategy in the next primary on February 27.
According to Reuters, former President Trump may have an advantage in the political process if a caucus is included. He has received extensive support from local party officials, which would probably translate into more power in the decision-making process.
The idea hasn’t been officially approved yet since the Republican National Committee hasn’t given its blessing. At this time, the RNC has not yet expressed a position on this issue.
