Former First Lady Michelle Obama is once again venting frustration over how the public views her role in American life, arguing that her personal accomplishments were erased the moment her husband entered national politics.

During a recent appearance on the popular podcast “Call Her Daddy,” Obama complained that she was reduced to nothing more than “Barack Obama’s wife,” despite what she described as an elite academic background and a lengthy professional resume before the White House years.
According to Obama, public skepticism about her qualifications began almost immediately once Barack Obama launched his political career, and it followed her straight into the White House.
“People would be like, ‘Well, how do you know what to do in this role?’ And to me, it was clear that… you don’t know anything about what I did before I came here… But I was like, well, I went to Princeton and Harvard,” she said. “I mean, I practiced law. I was an assistant to the mayor in Chicago. I ran a nonprofit, a 501(c)(3)… I was a vice president for community relations at the University of Chicago Hospitals. I was a dean of students.”
Obama went on to say that once the campaign season intensified, her professional identity effectively vanished in the eyes of the media and the public.
