Michelle Obama Drops Transition Bombshell

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

Michelle appeared to address these whispers directly during her podcast appearance, emphasizing that her recent decisions have been about reclaiming her independence, not marital strife.

“People couldn’t even fathom I was making a choice for myself,” Michelle said about skipping events with her husband. “They had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing, that this couldn’t be a grown woman just making a set of decisions for herself.”

For Michelle, this stage of her life is about focusing on herself after decades of public service and raising two daughters. She likened her return to therapy to taking a car in for routine maintenance, underscoring the importance of self-care at this stage of life.

“I now don’t have the excuse of, ‘Well my kids need this,’ or ‘my husband needs that’ or ‘the country needs that.’ So how do I think about this next phase, and let me get some help,” Michelle stated.

The former First Lady also reflected on a recent conversation with Barack that touched on mortality and the passage of time. After her mother Marian Robinson passed away in 2024, Barack reportedly told Michelle, “Well, you’re next up.” She recalled this moment in a discussion with her brother Craig Robinson on their IMO podcast.

“And I was like, ‘I’m not really ready to be next up.’ I told him, ‘You’re next up and Craig is next up,’” Michelle noted.

While the full picture of Michelle and Barack’s relationship remains unclear, it’s evident that the former First Lady is deeply focused on self-reflection and personal growth during this transitional phase of her life. With her daughters now fully independent, Michelle appears to be redefining her own identity beyond the roles of wife and mother.
