But a new report is pushing back on one particularly sensational theory: that First Lady Melania Trump is jealous of Harp or wants her removed from Trump’s inner circle.
According to sources cited by Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, Melania reportedly views the situation very differently.
Melania Reportedly Has No Problem With Harp
Harp has become one of Trump’s most trusted aides, remaining close to the president throughout meetings, travel and the relentless daily demands of the White House.
Republican lawmakers have publicly emphasized her importance.
Sen. John Barrasso described Harp as “an extra set of eyes and ears for President Trump.”
And according to one source close to Melania Trump, the first lady isn’t interested in forcing Harp out.
Quite the opposite.
“Melania hates becoming part of somebody else’s gossip, but she absolutely doesn’t want Natalie gone,” the source said.
The explanation offered by the source cuts directly against the jealousy narrative.
“Natalie handles the exhausting, around-the-clock Donald duty Melania has spent years avoiding,” the source explained.
Harp apparently thrives on the nonstop pace surrounding Trump.
A second source said Harp “wants to be there for every meeting, every trip, every moment.”
Melania, meanwhile, has long maintained a considerably more private lifestyle than her husband and has shown little interest in spending every waking hour inside the political whirlwind surrounding him.
That difference, according to the source, is precisely why there isn’t necessarily a conflict.
“They want entirely different relationships with Donald, and that’s exactly why this works,” the source said.
Harp’s Rise Inside Trump’s Inner Circle
Harp’s relationship with Trump stretches back years.
She first attracted his attention after appearing on Fox & Friends in 2019 and discussing her battle with stage 2 bone cancer. Harp credited Trump’s Right to Try Act with helping save her life by expanding access to experimental treatments.
Her public profile continued growing from there.
After working at One America News Network, Harp left the network in 2022 and began working for Trump full-time.
She eventually became a fixture in his political operation.
Harp reportedly assists with Trump’s Truth Social posts, travels with a portable printer so the president can review documents on paper, attends West Wing meetings and serves as a conduit between Trump and lawmakers.
Her access has extended beyond routine White House business.
Harp was reportedly among the small group traveling with Trump during a covert flight out of Turkey in July after U.S. intelligence detected a potential Iranian plot involving Air Force One.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was also reportedly aboard.
Several Cabinet officials, meanwhile, remained on a decoy aircraft.
Whatever critics think about Harp, her inclusion in such sensitive presidential movements demonstrates the extraordinary level of trust she has accumulated inside Trump’s operation.
Ossoff Puts Harp Into the Campaign
That relationship suddenly became campaign material when Ossoff mentioned Harp during an August 16 rally in Atlanta.
“He doesn’t want to do the job,” Ossoff told the crowd. “He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie.”
The remark immediately drew a furious reaction from Trump’s orbit.
Trump responded by labeling Ossoff “Pee-Wee Herman,” while White House Communications Director Steven Cheung launched his own blistering response on X.
Ossoff subsequently argued that the reaction showed his criticism had struck a nerve.
Trump’s allies offered a very different interpretation.
Eric Trump publicly defended Harp, calling her “an incredible young woman” and “arguably one of the hardest-working people in the White House.”
Others familiar with the relationship have characterized the connection between Trump and Harp as resembling a “father-daughter” dynamic rather than anything resembling the insinuations critics have attempted to attach to it.
An Attack That Could Backfire
For Ossoff, the political calculation was obvious: tie an unfamiliar female aide to Trump and generate enough intrigue to dominate headlines.
But that strategy also introduced Harp to millions of Americans who previously knew almost nothing about her.
Those voters are now hearing about a cancer survivor who credited a Trump-backed law with helping save her life, left television to work directly for Trump, became trusted by senior Republican officials and earned access to some of the president’s most sensitive movements.
They are also hearing that Melania Trump reportedly isn’t threatened by Harp’s presence at all.
Instead, sources claim the first lady appreciates having someone willing to embrace the exhausting schedule and constant proximity to Trump that Harp apparently prefers.
That makes Ossoff’s attack a potentially risky political gamble.
Rather than exposing some dramatic White House feud, he may have elevated a previously obscure Trump aide into a recognizable figure among the president’s supporters.
And the more Americans learn about Natalie Harp’s role, the harder it becomes to sell the story Ossoff appeared to be suggesting.
