Donald Trump’s Border Patrol is on the front lines of cleaning up the chaos left behind by decades of Democrat sanctuary city policies. Yet some liberal politicians seem more interested in photo ops than public safety.
One such figure is Evanston, Illinois Mayor Daniel Biss, who recently confronted federal agents during a Border Patrol operation. His attempt to appear heroic for the cameras quickly turned into a public showdown with Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino.
Last week, Bovino returned to the Chicago area to continue Operation Midway Blitz, a major crackdown on illegal immigration in sanctuary cities under President Trump’s directive. The operation brought an 11-vehicle federal convoy into Evanston, where agents detained multiple individuals under Title 8 immigration authority.
That’s when Biss, a progressive Democrat running for Congress, decided to insert himself into the operation. Surrounded by protesters blowing whistles and shouting, Biss confronted Bovino, lecturing him on racism and violence.
