This investigation gained attention after the FBI raided Brianna Suggs, a prominent Adams fundraiser. Allegations that the Turkish government provided financial support for Adams’ campaign funds set off the raid.

On November 2, the FBI conducted a raid at Suggs’ Brooklyn home. Suggs is a powerful figure in Adams’ political world because he was given more than $150,000 by the mayor’s campaign.

Suggs’ neighbor claims that a few hours ago, there were reports of screaming and helicopter noises close to the boarded-up house. But Mayor Adams was supposed to meet the Biden team in Washington, D.C. was abruptly canceled as a result of these circumstances.

Suggs was recently visited by FBI agents from the public corruption team of the New York branch while they were at her home for an inspection. At Suggs’ Brooklyn home in the Crown Heights neighborhood, law enforcement is presently conducting operations, an FBI spokesperson confirmed to the New York Times.

As confirmed by their representative, Boyd Johnson, Adams and his electoral team expeditiously turned over electronic devices in response to the F.B.I.’s request. It’s crucial to remember that Adams is actively assisting federal authorities and is not facing any criminal charges.

“After learning of the federal investigation, it was discovered that an individual had recently acted improperly,” Johnson mentioned. “In the spirit of transparency and cooperation, this behavior was immediately and proactively reported to investigators.”

In order to search Ms. Suggs’s home for evidence pertaining to a conspiracy involving campaign finance violations, the FBI obtained a warrant. Members of Mr. Adams’s campaign, the Turkish government or Turkish citizens, and KSK Construction, a developer with Turkish owners based in Brooklyn, are all parties to the investigation. Additionally, documents about donations from Washington, D.C.-based Bay Atlantic University were sought under the warrant. college that was started by a Turk and related to a school that Mr. Adams visited in 2015 while serving as the president of the Brooklyn Borough Council.

According to a warrant obtained by The New York Times, investigators were looking into whether Mr. Adams used a straw donor program to get donations from Turkish nationals or the Turkish government. In this scheme, contributors who weren’t the real money source were listed. The warrant also questioned Mr. Adams’s campaign’s use of New York City’s public matching program. With this program, a resident’s initial $250 donation is matched eight to one.

Additionally, the federal authorities are looking into whether any Adams campaign members received perks from Turkey or the construction company in exchange for donations to the campaign.

Law enforcement is once again looking into Mr. Adams and his associates. Alvin L. Bragg, the district attorney for Manhattan, has filed an indictment against Eric Ulrich, a former buildings commissioner and senior adviser to Mr. Adams, on a number of felonies, including conspiracy and bribery.
