However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his team at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) uncovered extensive wasteful spending within the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

According to Musk’s findings, USAID funneled taxpayer dollars into left-wing nonprofits, LGBT initiatives, and even foreign journalists—hardly the intended use of federal funds. Given access to the Treasury Department’s payment system, Musk and his team identified USAID as a government slush fund that needed to be shut down. With Trump’s backing, they moved to dismantle the agency.
