What started as a typical Saturday shopping trip in Traverse City, Michigan, quickly turned into a full-blown nightmare—until two brave Marines stepped up and stopped a bloodbath in its tracks.

Just after 4:00 p.m., shoppers at a Walmart were blindsided by horror when 42-year-old Bradford James Gille launched a vicious stabbing spree near the checkout lanes. Eleven innocent people—ranging in age from 29 to 84—were attacked with a folding knife in a scene that could’ve turned deadly if not for the courage and quick action of two Marine veterans.

While chaos erupted and customers scrambled for safety, former Marine Matt Kolakowski wasted no time. He was shopping with his daughter when he heard a chilling announcement echo over the store intercom: “He’s got a knife!”
