The left-wing media is reeling from a massive shakeup following the 2024 presidential election, and MSNBC is taking drastic measures to regain its footing. With Donald Trump back in the White House, the network is turning to its biggest star, Rachel Maddow, to help salvage its crumbling viewership.
Maddow, once a staple of MSNBC’s prime-time lineup, scaled back her appearances in 2022 after signing a lucrative contract worth $30 million per year to host her show one night a week. However, the 2024 election’s aftermath has triggered a significant shift. Maddow reportedly agreed to a $5 million annual pay cut and is now back anchoring her 9 PM show five nights a week for the first 100 days of Trump’s second administration.

“Maddow, who scaled back anchoring duties after the spring of 2022, holding forth only on Mondays, will return to five nights a week at that hour as part of a broader move by MSNBC to draw viewership to its coverage of the first 100 days of the Trump administration,” Variety reported.
