A juror who ultimately voted to acquit Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy by reason of insanity has revealed that she entered the jury room believing Clancy was guilty and criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children.
The stunning admission offers a new glimpse into the deeply divided deliberations that ended without a unanimous verdict and forced the judge to declare a mistrial.
The anonymous juror, identified by CBS Boston as Juror No. 5, said her position changed only after the panel spent more than a week examining the evidence and debating whether Clancy’s mental state prevented her from understanding the wrongfulness of what she had done.
