Lennon’s Legacy Strikes: Woke DEI Slammed as ‘Dumb Evil Idiots’!

The Beatles great John Lennon’s son, Seán Ono Lennon, has generated controversy with his moving opinions about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Lennon harshly attacked DEI on social media, calling them “Dumb Evil Idiots” in a divisive post.

He said something in a bigger discussion that seemed to indicate that the folks making the claims to be fighting against these issues are actually the ones who are creating them.

He discussed DEI activities in society and institutions, especially Harvard, in light of the departure of former Harvard President Claudine Gay.

Lennon’s remarks mirrored the worries raised by other powerful people, such as billionaire Bill Ackman.

Ackman used social media to talk about the dynamics at Harvard University in the wake of the previous president’s resignation.

“When I saw President Gay’s initial statement about the massacre, it provided more context (!) for the student groups’ statement of support for terrorism,” he wrote. “The protests began as pro-Palestine and then became anti-Israel. Shortly, thereafter, antisemitism exploded on campus.”

Ackman’s comprehensive examination of the circumstances at Harvard supported Lennon’s viewpoint. “I ultimately concluded that antisemitism was not the core of the problem, it was simply a troubling warning sign – it was the “canary in the coal mine” – despite how destructive it was in impacting student life and learning on campus.”

The well-known hedge fund manager and investor from America, Ackman, received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1992. In 1988, he was also awarded the remarkable magna cum laude honor in History.

“What I learned, however, was that DEI was not about diversity in its purest form, but rather DEI was a political advocacy movement on behalf of certain groups that are deemed oppressed under DEI’s own methodology,” Ackman wrote.

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY), the chair of the GOP Conference, cross-examined Gay in December about the University’s stance on free speech and Harvard’s handling of hate speech. The topic of controversy regarding more than thirty student groups at Harvard, including the branch of Amnesty International, which blamed Israel for specific Hamas crimes, was also discussed.

Gay underlined Harvard’s commitment to protecting free expression while drawing attention to the limitations of the university’s anti-bullying, anti-harassment, and anti-intimidation measures. But no particular disciplinary matters were handled, which led to a significant backlash.

In the end, Gay had to quit because of plagiarism in her work. “While President Gay has acknowledged missteps and has taken responsibility for them, it is also true that she has shown remarkable resilience in the face of deeply personal and sustained attacks,” Harvard stated in a press release.

“While some of this has played out in the public domain, much of it has taken the form of repugnant and in some cases racist vitriol directed at her through disgraceful emails and phone calls. We condemn such attacks in the strongest possible terms.”

Like many other universities, Harvard University has worked hard to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), but these efforts have not always been met with support or without criticism. Numerous people contend that DEI initiatives may result in reverse discrimination or give preference to some groups over others.

Concerns regarding academic freedom and speech freedom have also been expressed by many. Affirmative action practices in Harvard admissions have also been challenged in court; some claim that these practices discriminate against Asian-American candidates.
