Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has overcome a significant hurdle in her disqualification hearing earlier this year, allowing her to continue overseeing the high-profile case against former President Donald Trump. However, she remains under intense scrutiny.
The decision came from Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee who ruled against disqualifying Willis, with the condition that she sever professional ties with her romantic partner, Nathan Wade, who has since resigned.

The ruling has led some legal commentators to suggest that Willis would do well to step down for the good of both the case and her career. While Judge McAfee stopped short of accusing Willis of perjury or financial misconduct with Wade, he noted her actions raised concerns, hinting at an “odor of mendacity” regarding her testimony about her relationship with Wade.
