Leaked ICE Video Shows Mamdani Isn’t Ready for NYC!

Standing in front of a flip chart labeled “Know your rights,” Mamdani cast himself as a defender of New York’s “more than 3 million immigrants.”

“Last weekend, ICE attempted to raid Canal Street and detain our immigrant neighbors,” Mamdani said. “As mayor, I’ll protect the rights of every single New Yorker. And that includes the more than 3 million immigrants who call this city their home.”

The video quickly shifted into practical guidance for evading law enforcement.

“ICE cannot enter into private spaces like your home, school, or private area of your workplace without a judicial warrant signed by a judge,” Mamdani explained, displaying a real warrant alongside the paperwork ICE agents usually carry.

He also told viewers that “ICE is legally allowed to lie to you” and encouraged them to repeatedly ask “Am I free to go?” if detained. Mamdani closed the video with a nod to anti-ICE protests: *”New Yorkers have a constitutional right to protest, and when I’m mayor, we will protect that right.”*¹

A History of Opposition to Federal Enforcement

At 33, Mamdani has built a reputation for openly challenging federal immigration enforcement. During his campaign, he described ICE as *”a rogue agency, one that has no interest in laws, no interest in order.”*²

He pledged to expand city-funded legal defense for undocumented immigrants and to uphold strict “Sanctuary City” rules, preventing local authorities from cooperating with federal officials.

In a post-election speech, Mamdani even hinted at taking direct action against federal agents, warning, *”If you violate the law, you must be held accountable.”*³

President Trump didn’t hold back either. He repeatedly labeled Mamdani a “communist lunatic” and warned that his election would “destroy New York City,” even threatening to cut federal funds if Mamdani interfered with ICE operations.⁴

A Tone-Deaf Choice of Date

The video’s release on December 7—Pearl Harbor Day—was particularly striking. On a day when Americans honor the 2,403 who died defending the nation, Mamdani chose to guide illegal immigrants on evading law enforcement.

While the country remembered the ultimate sacrifices made to protect U.S. sovereignty, the incoming mayor posted instructions aimed at obstructing federal immigration operations.

Public and Political Backlash

The video quickly went viral, drawing harsh criticism from conservatives. Political commentator Liz Rios called it *”Aiding abetting and advising criminals.”*⁵

Even some Democrats appeared uneasy with how far Mamdani went in defending actions that directly obstruct federal agents.

A Preview of What’s to Come

This instructional video offers a glimpse of the governing style Mamdani may bring. Taking office January 1, he’s already demonstrating that his allegiance lies with protecting illegal immigrants over federal enforcement and public safety.

Recent incidents highlight the stakes. In late November, roughly 200 protesters blocked ICE agents in a Chinatown parking garage for hours, throwing debris and creating chaos once police intervened.⁶ In October, nine illegal street vendors were arrested on Canal Street, sparking violent confrontations with federal officers.⁷

The video confirms that these aren’t isolated clashes—they reflect a coordinated effort to impede law enforcement, now with the endorsement of New York’s next mayor.

Even Mamdani’s recent meeting with President Trump at the White House now appears performative. Just weeks later, he released this guide aimed at obstructing ICE, showing that his public cordiality masked a clear plan to oppose federal authority.⁸

New Yorkers should brace for four years under a mayor who treats federal law enforcement as adversaries rather than partners, prioritizes illegal immigrants over public safety, and views Pearl Harbor Day as an opportunity to teach evasion tactics.

Zohran Mamdani will be inaugurated as New York City’s 111th mayor on January 1, 2026.
