Lara Trump, President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law and former co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), announced on Saturday that she will no longer be pursuing Florida’s soon-to-be vacant U.S. Senate seat. The position is expected to open as Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has been nominated to serve as Secretary of State by the president-elect.
In a statement shared on X, formerly Twitter, Lara Trump said, “After an incredible amount of thought, contemplation, and encouragement from so many, I have decided to remove my name from consideration for the United States Senate.”

The Palm Beach resident reflected on her time at the RNC, describing the role as an honor during what she called “the most high-stakes election of our lifetime.” She also took a moment to thank Floridians for their overwhelming support as speculation about her potential Senate bid grew.
