A demonstration in Los Angeles meant to show solidarity with the Iranian people spiraled into chaos Sunday after a U-Haul box truck barreled down a street packed with protesters, forcing marchers to scatter in panic and triggering a violent confrontation that was caught on live television.
The incident unfolded in the Westwood area, where several hundred demonstrators had gathered to voice support for what organizers described as the Iranian people’s long-running resistance against their country’s Islamic theocracy. What began as a politically charged but organized rally quickly turned dangerous when the moving truck entered the crowded street.
According to reports from the scene, the U-Haul truck drove directly through the mass of marchers, sending people scrambling out of harm’s way. As the vehicle pushed through the crowd, protesters shouted and ran alongside it, with some attempting to strike the truck as it sped away. The tense moments left many shaken and raised immediate concerns about public safety and law enforcement response.
