Kennedy Center Chaos: Judge Demands Trump Explain!

A new courtroom battle has erupted over the future of the Kennedy Center after an emergency decision to close its main building prompted an immediate challenge from Democratic Rep. Joyce Beatty and her legal team.

U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, an Obama appointee, ordered the Trump administration to tell the court by Thursday morning whether the Kennedy Center’s latest shutdown conflicts with an injunction he issued earlier this year.

Cooper directed the Justice Department to respond by 10 a.m. Thursday. The order came after lawyers representing Beatty filed an emergency motion arguing that the Kennedy Center board’s decision to immediately close the building “may be violating the ‘clear and unambiguous order of the Court.’”

According to the Washington Post, Cooper said he would arrange a hearing if he determines that one is necessary.
