Kari Lake, a key figure in the Trump administration and a fierce critic of the mainstream media, is making big moves against what she calls “nonsense” reporting. In a bombshell announcement, Lake revealed that the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) will cut ties with major newswire services, including the Associated Press, Reuters, and Agence France-Presse.
Lake, now serving as a Special Adviser for USAGM, oversees government-funded media operations like Voice of America (VOA). She argues that American taxpayer money should not be used to prop up corporate news organizations that, in her words, “tell us what the news is.” Instead, she insists the agency should be producing its own content with its nearly billion-dollar budget.

“USAGM is an American taxpayer funded News Organization with an 83-year history. We should not be paying outside news companies to tell us what the news is—with nearly a billion-dollar budget, we should be producing news ourselves,” Lake stated in a comment obtained by the Daily Caller. “And if that’s not possible, the American taxpayer should demand to know why.”
