Stacey Abrams has spent years portraying Republican-backed election laws as threats to democracy. Now, the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate is taking that argument considerably further — and Kamala Harris was sitting beside her as she did it.
During an appearance on Harris’ “Assembly Required” podcast, Abrams offered a sweeping indictment of the American South, arguing that the region has experienced a form of authoritarian government dating all the way back to the nation’s founding.
Harris did not interrupt or challenge the characterization. Instead, she could be seen nodding as Abrams delivered the remarkable assessment.
