In her new book, Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House, co-authored with NBC’s Jonathan Allen, Parnes pulls back the curtain on the meltdown inside the Harris-Walz campaign. What she describes isn’t just disappointment—it’s delusion.

“She was completely shocked, and [Walz] was shocked,” Parnes said on the podcast.
The mood inside the Harris campaign on election night was reportedly one of total disbelief. Tim Walz, Harris’s running mate, was said to be “stunned” as the numbers rolled in. According to Parnes, the results left him speechless in his hotel room.
