The latest chapter in this saga revolves around Vice President Kamala Harris, the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, as her campaign reportedly seeks assistance from the media ahead of her upcoming debate with former President Donald Trump.
CNN reports that Harris’s campaign has been in discussions with ABC News, requesting assurances regarding the rules for the September 10th presidential debate in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The concern stems from a debate rule that allows moderators to mute one candidate’s microphone while the other speaks—a rule the Harris campaign strongly objects to.

“Vice President Harris, a former prosecutor, will be fundamentally disadvantaged by this format, which will serve to shield Donald Trump from direct exchanges with the Vice President. We suspect this is the primary reason for his campaign’s insistence on muted microphones,” stated the Harris campaign in a letter shared with both ABC and CNN.
