Speaking at the Equal Voice Foundation on Tuesday, Trudeau, who has often described himself as a “proud feminist,” didn’t hold back in critiquing America’s political direction under Trump.
In his speech, Trudeau argued that “regressive forces” have taken hold in the United States, fueled by Trump and his supporters. His remarks painted a grim picture of women’s progress being eroded across the globe.

“It shouldn’t be that way. It wasn’t supposed to be that way. We were supposed to be on a steady — if difficult sometimes — march towards progress,” Trudeau declared. “And, yet, just a few weeks ago the United States voted for a second time, to not elect its first woman president.”
