Robert Hur of Maryland, a former appointment of President Trump, officially said Monday that he will be looking into the Biden Administration. Finding any damaging information that could exist inside the incoming administration is the special counsel’s job.

“Mr. Hurr has a long and distinguished career as a prosecutor,” Garland said, adding that “I will ensure that Mr. Hur receives all the resources he needs to conduct his work.”

The Attorney General has thoughtfully and comprehensively presented a chronology outlining the length of the Justice Department’s investigation before its first report this week.

On the evening of November 4, Garland was informed by Biden’s attorney that private papers had been found in Biden’s office at the Penn-Biden facility.

“That office was not authorized for the storage of classified documents,” Garland said.

Attorney General Garland said on November 9 that the FBI had opened an investigation to see whether Biden had been involved in any illegal action involving secret material.

Attorney General Garland designated U.S. Attorney John Lausch on November 14 to launch a legal inquiry into the president on information discovered at the Penn-Biden facility.
