In a fiery accusation, Lara Trump has put Vice President Kamala Harris in the hot seat, alleging that her campaign is engaged in a “highly illegal” fundraising scheme involving public school teachers and students in North Carolina. The co-chair of the Republican National Committee and wife of Eric Trump took to Instagram to expose the alleged wrongdoing, which she claims involves educators using their influence to push students into volunteering for the Harris campaign.
According to Lara Trump, teachers in Gaston, North Carolina, have been reaching out to their students, encouraging them to participate in the Harris campaign’s voter outreach efforts. In her social media post, Trump shared a screenshot of an email from Reed Breunig, a regional organizer for the Harris campaign, directed at teachers in the area. The email purportedly offers students an “exciting opportunity” to get involved with local Democratic candidates and help run the day-to-day operations of the campaign.

“The North Carolina Democratic Party is looking for high school students interested in getting involved with the campaign and learning a bit more about local, state, and national politics,” Breunig wrote in his email. He went on to describe the opportunity as a “fellowship” requiring about 5-10 hours a week, where students would work alongside Democratic staffers talking to voters and managing the campaign office. While the fellowship doesn’t offer any pay, students would reportedly be able to earn volunteer hours or even school credit for their work.
