The FBI and other federal agencies have taken swift action against a shocking betrayal within the U.S. Army. Three individuals—two active-duty soldiers and a former soldier—were arrested for allegedly stealing sensitive defense intelligence and handing it over to foreign adversaries, including China.
A Deep Betrayal Uncovered
According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), active-duty soldiers Jian Zhao and Li Tian, both stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, along with former Army soldier Ruoyu Duan, were indicted on serious charges involving bribery, theft of government property, and espionage-related offenses.

In a statement, the DOJ confirmed:
“Tian and Duan were charged in the District of Oregon for conspiring to commit bribery and theft of government property. Zhao was charged in the Western District of Washington for conspiring to obtain and transmit national defense information to an individual not authorized to receive it, and also for bribery and theft of government property.”
