The FBI’s Pittsburgh field office was the scene of a wild and brazen attack early Wednesday morning, when a man slammed his car into the facility’s front gate before fleeing the area on foot. Officials are calling the incident a clear act of terror against the federal agency.
The attack happened in the middle of the night, around 2:40 a.m., when most of the city was asleep. According to investigators, the suspect drove a white Toyota sedan straight into the secure gate, destroying it on impact. What happened next left witnesses stunned.
Christopher Giordano, the FBI Special Agent in Charge, confirmed the suspect jumped out of the vehicle carrying an American flag, tossed it over the damaged entrance, and then disappeared into the darkness.
