JUST IN: Clancy Judge Declares MISTRIAL

The closely watched Lindsay Clancy murder trial ended in a mistrial Friday after seven days of jury deliberations, a last-minute appeal to Massachusetts’ highest court, and an extraordinary courtroom confrontation between the judge and Clancy’s defense attorney.

The final decision came after jurors repeatedly informed Plymouth Superior Court Judge William Sullivan that they could not reach a unanimous verdict.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. ET, Clancy’s emergency request for relief was denied, clearing the way for Sullivan to formally declare the trial a mistrial.
