The murder trial of Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy took another dramatic turn Thursday as prosecutors and defense attorneys battled over a crucial question: Did Clancy suffer from severe postpartum psychosis that stripped her of criminal responsibility, or are key claims about hallucinations unsupported by the medical records created before her three children were killed?
Proceedings in Plymouth Superior Court were brief for the second consecutive day, but testimony from a hospital chaplain added another layer to an already emotional and fiercely contested case.
Clancy is accused of killing her three young children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan — inside the family’s Duxbury home in January 2023. She has pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder.
