Vice President JD Vance walked into what many conservatives would consider one of the most hostile television environments in America and emerged with something few expected: praise from one of his fiercest critics.
Vance appeared on ABC’s The View this week to discuss his newly released memoir, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, which chronicles his conversion to Catholicism and personal spiritual journey. But viewers quickly noticed that the conversation spent little time on religion and far more time on politics.
From the opening moments of the interview, the panel challenged Vance on a wide range of controversial topics. Questions centered on immigration policy, inflation, Jeffrey Epstein, and accusations that the Trump administration had altered or diminished presentations of black history at federally supported museums and institutions.
