Johnson Drops Plan GOP Must Fix Before Midterms

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) made a notable appearance on Fox & Friends during the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, using the high-profile setting to address foreign policy developments and domestic political strategy as Republicans look ahead to the upcoming midterm elections.

Johnson struck an optimistic tone regarding international negotiations involving Iran, expressing strong confidence in President Donald Trump’s diplomatic efforts and suggesting a major agreement could be on the horizon.

He told Fox News viewers he is “very confident” that President Trump will soon announce a peace deal with Iran.

“This will allow 60 days to get the details done, and the number-one condition has been that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Johnson said.

The Speaker emphasized that preventing nuclear escalation remains the central requirement in ongoing discussions, framing the potential agreement as a stabilizing force for the broader Middle East.
