With these bombshells in mind, Jordan laid out three key areas of focus for the new investigation.
Mystery of the Pipe Bomber
One of the most pressing questions remains unanswered: Who planted the pipe bombs outside the headquarters of the Republican and Democratic National Committees on the night of January 5, 2021?
“The subcommittee will focus on who planted pipe bombs outside the RNC and DNC headquarters. The FBI has released footage of the person believed to have planted the bombs, but authorities still haven’t arrested any suspects,” reported Punchbowl News.
Despite advanced surveillance technology and widespread use of cell phone tracking that helped authorities locate and arrest numerous Trump supporters present at the Capitol, the FBI has yet to identify the suspect. The lack of progress on this case has raised eyebrows—especially since then-Vice President-elect Kamala Harris was inside the DNC headquarters when the bomb was discovered.
The Role of Confidential FBI Sources
Another major focus of Jordan’s probe will be the involvement of confidential human sources embedded within the crowd on January 6. While the FBI and the Department of Justice have repeatedly claimed there is no evidence that FBI informants had a role in the protests or Capitol breach, Jordan wants to dig deeper.
“Jordan also said he wants the subcommittee to work with the FBI and DOJ to investigate the ‘confidential human sources’ who were in the Capitol on Jan. 6. The Justice Department’s inspector general found ‘no evidence in the materials we reviewed or the testimony we received showing or suggesting that the FBI had undercover employees in the various protest crowds, or at the Capitol, on January 6,’” Punchbowl News reported.
Despite these official denials, questions remain about the extent of federal involvement in the events of that day. The fact that at least 26 confidential informants were reportedly present raises concerns about whether authorities had prior knowledge of what would unfold—and whether they acted appropriately.
Exposing Political Persecution
The final piece of Jordan’s investigation centers on the treatment of Trump supporters who were arrested and prosecuted in connection with January 6. Many of these individuals claim they were subjected to harsh and unfair treatment, while others who may have played a more significant role—such as confidential informants—faced no consequences.
“I think some of them unknowingly entered restricted space and then . . . they were detained the whole time at a trial. Contrast that to the confidential human sources who did not have permission to go in the restricted area, certainly did not have permission to go in the Capitol – four of them did. None of them were charged with anything. So I think that that contrast is important as well,” Jordan stated.

Jordan’s subcommittee aims to hear directly from those who received presidential pardons, allowing them to tell their side of the story and shed light on what they claim was politically motivated prosecution under the Biden Justice Department.
What Comes Next?
The findings of Jordan’s investigation could have far-reaching implications—not just for Liz Cheney and other former January 6 Committee members, but for federal agencies and top Democrats. With growing concerns about political weaponization of law enforcement and selective justice, many conservatives are eager to see whether Jordan’s probe will finally expose the full truth about what happened before, during, and after January 6.
Washington, D.C. is bracing for impact. The truth may be on the verge of coming out, and it could change everything.
