Vice President JD Vance just dropped a political grenade into the middle of Washington, and Rep. Ilhan Omar is suddenly facing questions she can no longer brush aside.
For years, Omar and her allies dismissed accusations surrounding her past marriage as “smears,” “racist attacks,” and conspiracy theories pushed by conservatives. But now the issue has escalated far beyond internet speculation and political gossip.
According to Vance, the Department of Justice is actively reviewing allegations tied to Omar’s immigration history and controversial marriage timeline.
And Washington is paying attention.
Speaking from the White House briefing room this week, Vance stunned reporters when he openly acknowledged that federal officials are examining the allegations.
“It certainly seems like something fishy is there,” Vance said when questioned about Omar’s past marriage to British citizen Ahmed Elmi.
