The extremely contentious January 6 Committee published its findings on that fatal day’s events on Thursday. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) role in failures leading to inadequate Capitol security was essentially ignored, a decision that many see as biased and unfair.
The Committee decided to make former President Donald Trump a scapegoat and place all the responsibility on him rather than seek out real solutions.
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who is leaving office, ignored the days and events building up to January 6 and stated in the report that “Trump sat in the dining room off the Oval Office watching the deadly disturbance at the Capitol.”

“During this time, law enforcement agents were attacked and seriously injured, the Capitol was invaded, the electoral count was halted and the lives of those in the Capitol were put at risk,” Cheney continued. “In addition to being unlawful, as described in this report, this was an utter moral failure—and a clear dereliction of duty.”
Liz Cheney, a GOP powerhouse who suffered a shocking primary setback in August, has failed to persuade Republicans of her fundamental assertions regarding the January 6 uprising. It seems that not enough of her party members are willing to provide their support despite her persuasive attempts.
House Republicans released a report on Capitol security on Wednesday, revealing that it had been severely neglected in the run-up to the demonstration on January 6. In their study, they said that Democratic leadership and law enforcement officials were more interested in maintaining appearances than ensuring public safety, leaving Congress open to a tremendous influx of rioters.
“Leadership and law enforcement failures within the U.S. Capitol left the complex vulnerable on January 6, 2021. The Democrat-led investigation in the House of Representatives, however, has disregarded those institutional failings that exposed the Capitol to violence that day,” the Republicans wrote.
A grim reminder that occasionally even our most secure locations are not safe, Capitol Police were alerted about potential threats lurking since mid-December before the turmoil of January 6.
“Prior to that day, the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) had obtained sufficient information from an array of channels to anticipate and prepare for the violence that occurred,” the report said.
The January 6 Committee was a contentious affair: it was created by Republican Representatives Jim Banks, Jim Jordan, Rodney Davis, Troy Nehls, and Kelly Armstrong, all of whom were appointed to the committee by Rep. Kevin McCarthy. However, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi refused to allow Reps. Jordan & Banks to participate, which enraged McCarthy, who then removed his appointees in retaliation.
According to Banks, Nancy Pelosi significantly contributed to Capitol Hill’s security failings, which is supported by the results of an independent investigation.
“Our report exposes the partisanship, incompetence and indifference that led to the disaster on January 6 and the leading role Speaker Pelosi and her office played in the security failure at the Capitol,” Banks told Just the News. “Unlike the sham January 6th Committee, House Republicans produced a useful report that will keep Capitol and USCP officers safe with no subpoena power and no budget.”

By “investigating the facts, conditions, and causes that led to this domestic terror attack on the Capitol,” according to Pelosi, the partisan committee “succeeded in bringing clarity” to the incident.
“We owe a debt of gratitude to Chairman Bennie Thompson, Vice Chair Liz Cheney, the patriotic Members of Congress and dedicated staff—who devoted themselves to this investigation, to uncovering the truth and to writing a report that is a ‘Roadmap for Justice,’” Pelosi concluded.
