Former Special Counsel Jack Smith is facing a new legal battle over the extraordinary investigative tactics used during the federal probe surrounding President Donald Trump and his allies.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee has filed a federal lawsuit accusing Smith and members of his team of secretly obtaining her telephone records while keeping her identity from the judge asked to authorize secrecy surrounding the subpoena.
The Tennessee Republican is seeking only $1 in damages.
