Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen, a Republican, made it clear that his office will not tolerate illegal voting in the state. In a statement shared by Fox News, Allen said, “I want to thank the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Alabama for their diligent efforts investigating and charging this individual. We will continue to assist law enforcement in every way possible as they prosecute individuals who vote illegally in Alabama elections to the fullest extent of the law.”
Francisco’s arrest and pending charges come at a time when voter integrity is top of mind for many Americans, particularly Republicans. The case has sparked questions about how many other non-citizens could be exploiting vulnerabilities in the U.S. election system, adding fuel to the ongoing debate about election security.
“How many other illegals are running wild among us, voting freely in our elections, and handing politicians false victories?” is the question being raised by right-leaning voters across the country.
The case against Francisco was spearheaded by the U.S. State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) with help from Alabama law enforcement agencies. As the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Northern Alabama detailed, “DSS investigated the case, with assistance from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the East Metro Area Crime Center, and the Alabama Secretary of State’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brett A. Janich is prosecuting the case.”
The charges against Francisco include making false statements regarding her citizenship, illegally obtaining passports, and aggravated identity theft. She has agreed to a plea deal and is expected to enter her guilty plea in the near future. A total of nine counts have been filed against her at the federal court level.
This case is unfolding against the backdrop of a larger political battle over voter fraud, with President Biden having signed Executive Order 14019 in 2021, which some Republicans argue has opened the door wider for illegal immigrants to access voter rolls. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 is also facing scrutiny as Republicans push back with proposed reforms like the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.
Republican Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah are currently working to tie the SAVE Act to a spending bill that aims to prevent a government shutdown. This act is part of a broader effort by America-first Republicans to ensure that only eligible American citizens vote in future elections.

As South Carolina GOP Rep. Ralph Norman said in a statement on Friday, “The Senate can either ensure only eligible American citizens are voting in our elections – or shut down the government. To me, it’s a no-brainer.”
For conservatives, the Francisco case serves as a stark reminder of the potential for fraud in the U.S. election system and the need for stricter enforcement of voter eligibility laws. With the 2024 election just around the corner, this incident has left many wondering how secure the country’s voter rolls truly are.
If voter integrity measures are not put in place soon, many fear the backdoor to fraud will remain wide open. As concerns grow over the role illegal immigrants could play in future elections, Republicans like Allen and others are working to close the loopholes and ensure that only U.S. citizens cast ballots in the nation’s elections.
This case shows that despite claims to the contrary, voter fraud is real, and without proper safeguards, it could undermine the democratic process itself.
