Illegal Alien Accused of Strangling Baby Set for Release

Virginia’s newly elected Democrat governor, Abigail Spanberger, is facing intense backlash as her administration prepares to release a convicted illegal alien responsible for one of the most disturbing crimes imaginable. Despite the brutality of the offense, the Spanberger administration reportedly has no plans to notify or cooperate with federal immigration authorities to ensure the suspect is deported once he completes his sentence.

The individual at the center of the controversy is Alvaro Mejia-Ayala, a Salvadoran national who was 21 years old at the time of the crime and is now 22. In September 2025, Mejia-Ayala was arrested in Loudoun County after committing an unspeakable act of violence against his own family—one that ended in the death of an innocent infant.

According to investigators, Mejia-Ayala strangled his defenseless eight-month-old baby sister using a charging cord. Authorities later found the infant unresponsive, with the white cable still wrapped tightly around her neck. Emergency responders rushed the child for medical treatment, but despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries days later.

Court records paint a chilling picture of the events leading up to the arrest. Mejia-Ayala allegedly admitted to a friend that he had been “playing” with the infant and “may have killed her” before fleeing the home. Law enforcement tracked him down shortly afterward and initially charged him with strangulation. As the infant’s condition worsened and she later died, prosecutors upgraded the charge to murder.
