Republicans Fire Back at Minnesota Democrat as Criminal Investigation Sparks Political Firestorm
Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar is facing renewed scrutiny after federal agents searched her Washington, D.C., residence, setting off a political firestorm and prompting Republicans to revive a statement she made about the rule of law during President Donald Trump’s legal battles in 2023.
The Minnesota congresswoman once declared that “no one is above the law” after Trump was indicted. Now, with federal investigators examining a matter involving Omar, Republicans are using her own words to challenge her response to the search.
The operation took place early Monday morning, when agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed a court-authorized search warrant at Omar’s residence. The search is reportedly connected to an ongoing criminal investigation involving immigration paperwork completed by her late father.
