Omar took to social media to denounce Trump’s proposed policy, writing: “Today I introduced my Neighbors Not Enemies Act to repeal the outdated and dangerous Alien Enemies Act of 1798. Donald Trump is preparing to dust off this archaic law for his plan for mass deportation. It’s way past time to repeal this xenophobic law once and for all.”
But Omar didn’t stop there. She specifically targeted former Trump adviser Stephen Miller, one of the chief architects of the administration’s immigration policies.
“Stephen Miller and Donald Trump are preparing to dust off the law for their plan for mass deportation. This will be another moral stain on our country,” Omar ranted.
Trump, however, has been crystal clear about his plan. During his inauguration speech, he vowed to “use the full and immense power of federal and state law enforcement to eliminate the presence of all foreign gangs and criminal networks.”
Yet, Omar ignored this and instead attempted to frame Trump’s enforcement efforts as racially motivated. She claimed that his approach “targets people based on their nationality, not based on their behavior.”
The problem for Omar? Americans overwhelmingly support the removal of illegal alien criminals from the country. A New York Times poll found that 55 percent of Americans back the deportation of all illegal immigrants, a number that would likely be even higher when it comes to violent gang members.

By leading the charge against Trump’s immigration crackdown, Omar is dragging the Democrat Party into dangerous political territory. The party is already struggling with a lack of strong leadership, and figures like Omar make it easy for Trump to paint them as soft on crime and national security.
If Democrats follow Omar’s lead and oppose Trump’s deportation plan, they could face severe political backlash in upcoming elections. With Americans increasingly fed up with illegal immigration and rising crime, Omar’s latest stunt may have just played right into Trump’s hands.
