Hundreds Charged in Massive $14.6B DOJ Sting!

In an unprecedented move, the Department of Justice has charged more than 320 individuals in connection with a series of coordinated health care fraud schemes that allegedly drained billions from Medicare and other publicly and privately funded insurance programs. The scope and scale of the operation are unlike anything the DOJ has tackled before.

According to Matthew Galeotti, Chief of the DOJ’s Criminal Division, “defendants also attempted to swindle Medicare and other taxpayer-funded and private health insurance programs out of about $14.6 billion,” as reported by Fox News. That number more than doubles the DOJ’s previous annual record of $6 billion.

Galeotti called the operation the “largest coordinated healthcare fraud takedown in the history of the Department of Justice,” signaling just how widespread and deliberate these criminal networks have become.

In a sharp warning to the public, Galeotti added, “These criminals didn’t just steal someone else’s money. They stole from you. Every fraudulent claim, every fake billing, every kickback scheme represents money taken directly from the pockets of American taxpayers who fund these essential programs through their hard work and sacrifice.”
